International tea day 2023. Benefits of Drinking tea

The importance of International Tea Day is an occasion to celebrate the culture, health benefits and economic importance of tea. Along with this, work is done to streamline its production. International Tea Day will be celebrated on May 21 in 2023.

One of the main objectives is to encourage reputed tea companies performing from the sluggish system. ³

History of international tea day

The International Tea Day campaign was launched in 2005 by the trade unions, small tea growers and civil society organizations in Asia and Africa to address the issues of living wages for workers and fair prices for small tea producers. ¹ The first International Tea Day was celebrated in India's capital city, New Delhi, in 2005 and the celebrations were later followed by other tea growing countries - Sri Lanka, Nepal, Vietnam, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Kenya, Malawi, Malaysia, Uganda and Tanzania. ³ The goal of the day is to promote and foster collective actions to implement activities in favour of the sustainable production and consumption of tea and raise awareness of its importance in fighting poverty and hunger.

Economic benefits of tea

Tea is one of the most important cash crops and plays a significant role in rural development, poverty reduction and food security in exporting and developing countries.
